Working with Clare GHigo
I have been teaching singing for over thirty years. On moving to Oxford twenty three years ago, I was invited to teach at both the Oxford School of Drama and Radley College. After a time I moved into private practice and more recently, I was asked to work with choral scholars at Trinity College, Cambridge for Stephen Layton, which I did for 4 years. I have an established private practice in Oxford where I live.
I'm also proud to have taught for 17 years at the Oxenfoord International Summer Singing School in Scotland. My masterclasses include at Trinity College, Cambridge and on the Oxford Lieder Mastercourse for postgraduates and young professional singers. I have also been an adjudicator for Trinity College of Music, given workshops at both Trinity and the Royal College of Music, and I'm an associate teacher of New York-based international singing teacher David Jones. I also integrate Meribeth Dayme's 'Core Singing 'work into my teaching.
What people have said :
'It seems to me an absolute miracle to have discovered something I care about as much as singing, and this wouldn't have happened without you.
You have completely changed my life, to the point where I can't imagine where I'd be now if I hadn't found your wisdom, inspiration, and support.'
'Fiona's teaching is so great because it combines in-depth technical work with a more personal approach to interpretation: through working with Fiona on becoming more 'present', I find an amazing freedom to explore the poetry of the music. Lessons with Fiona allow you to really creatively develop your own motivation for performing. It's magic!'
'Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher over the last four years.
I really can't put into words the positive impact you have had.
I am so grateful for the constant support and encouragement you have shown me. You saw potential in me when I couldn't see it in myself.
You have been a huge inspiration.'
Fiona has helped me and so many of my colleagues over the past few years with her clarity and inclusive ways of teaching. Never dogmatic and always discovering new aspects herself, she is an inspiring and inspired teacher.
' I came to Fiona as a choral scholar and left with a Distinction in my final recital and a choice of conservatoire places for postgraduate study. These achievements are the culmination of a strong teacher-pupil relationship, building on technique and repetoire throughout my time in Oxford as an undergraduate. Fiona is the best teacher and mentor I could have wished to find and I cannot recommend her highly enough.
' Thank you so much for guiding my way up to the realm of 'being' on the platform.
Those were moments to treasure for a lifetime! Merci '
